The outdoor sitting room,
in noble materials

Teak, aluminium, rope and ceramic tops, with thick cushions that take the rain. Where you entertain, rather than where you turn covers.

Gescova — sun lounger

Gescova — Premium outdoor, lounge and dining. For terraces that entertain.

The house

A Belgian family house that draws outdoor rooms people live in

Gescova describes itself as Belgian designers of outdoor happiness, and the word matters: the subject is not resistance, it is the comfort of a sitting room installed outside. Aluminium, woven rope, teak — including recycled teak — and ceramic tops.

More than six hundred references, and a logic of assortment: the collections combine, the cushions are replaceable, a villa is furnished in one go and extended afterwards.

The ranges

Five collections, one vocabulary

Materials and cushion tones overlap from one collection to the next: you can compose a sitting room from two families without a false note, and extend it later.

Lounge and sofas

The heart of the house. Modules and sofas on aluminium or teak frames, thick cushions, woven rope. This is what goes under a gallery or beside a pool, and turns a terrace into a living room.

Sun loungers

Multi-position backs, aluminium or teak frames. It is the most exposed item on a poolside: sun cream, chlorine, salt, overhead sun. The fabric choice matters more here than anywhere else.

Why this brand here

The cushion decides everything

In this climate it is not the frame that gives way — it is the textile. Here is what to check before buying, and what to plan for in use.

  • Cushions
All Weather fabrics, removable coversThis is the deciding point. A cushion with a fixed cover is condemned at the first mould — and in this climate it comes.
  • Foam
Open-cell, drainingClosed foam holds water and smells of mould within three weeks. To be checked reference by reference.
  • Aluminium
Powder-coatedNo corrosion by the sea, unlike steel even when treated.
  • Teak
Solid, including recycledThe only timber that holds outdoors untreated. It silvers if left — see below.
  • Woven rope
Hand-woven synthetic fibreDries fast, holds no salt, cleans with a sponge. The right compromise between comfort and upkeep.
  • Tops
Large-format ceramicNo stain, no scratch, no fading. A timber top needs annual care; a ceramic one does not.
  • Assortment
Combinable collectionsMaterials and tones overlap: compose from two families, and extend three years later.
  • Storage
Cushions must go somewherePlan a chest or a room. In hurricane season, the cushions come in before the furniture.

Ordering and delivery

Living with it, and keeping it handsome

A well-kept outdoor sitting room lasts ten years; badly kept, it lasts three. What follows is not detail — it is what decides the lifespan.

Cushions
Bring the cushions in during heavy rain and before any alert. Covers are removable and washable — check the exact reference in the catalogue.
Teak
Left alone it silvers in one season. With an annual oil it keeps its tone. Both are defensible; you have to choose.
Aluminium and rope
Soapy water and a sponge. No pressure washer on the rope, no abrasive on the powder coating.
Seasonal storage
Plan a chest or a ventilated room for the cushions. It is the item forgotten at plan stage, and missed afterwards.
Lead time
Immediate from stock; 6 to 8 weeks from Belgium for the rest.
