L’Antic Colonial is the group firm devoted to natural materials: stone, marble, travertine, solid wood and mosaic. It completes the ceramic range wherever the client wants living material.

The practical advantage is integration: the stone arrives in the same container as the tile, with the same Butech adhesive and the same contact. On an island, that is often worth more than one more stone yard to coordinate.

Mosaics, trim and finishing

Glass, stone and metal in small formats — the register of shower niches, pool linings and splashbacks, where the surface is small and the detail is seen. The same family carries what FINISHES the job: skirtings, stair nosings, listels and special pieces. It is the range found missing the day before handover, which is why it gets chosen alongside the tile rather than after it.

choosing living material

Stone and wood call for trade-offs that ceramic does not. We put them on the table beforehand, not after the installation.

  • Shade variation
    Every piece differsThat is the point of the material and its constraint. We mix the crates as we lay, to avoid patches that read too light.
  • Sealing
    To be renewedA water repellent is redone every two to three years. To be said to the client beforehand, not when the stain appears.
  • Solid wood
    It movesAt this humidity, a solid wood floor moves. We check the species and the fixing method before proposing it.
  • Mosaic
    The grout becomes the subjectA great deal of grout, so the choice of grout decides the result. Butech supplies the water-repellent grouts that go with it.
  • Outdoors
    Slip resistancePolished stone at the edge of a pool is an accident waiting. Brushed and aged are the right finishes here.
  • Integration
    Same containerThe stone arrives with the tile, the adhesive and the trims. An independent stone yard does not.

Ordering and delivery

Living material, in practice

Stone is not tile: the shades vary, the sealer has to be renewed, and wood moves. Three points to build into the budget.

Mixing the crates
Stone is laid by mixing the crates: that is what avoids patches reading too light
Sealing
Water repellent supplied with the order, to be renewed every two to three years
Waste
Allow 10 to 12 %: stone is sorted, and some pieces are set aside as it is laid
Lead time
8 to 12 weeks from Spain, in the same shipment as the ceramic
Installation system
Butech adhesives and grouts suited to stone — different from those for tile
