The tap, and above all
the spare part behind it

On an island, a dripping mixer is not a plumbing problem: it is a supply problem. What matters is not the shape of the tap, it is knowing the cartridge will be here within a week.

Noken — freestanding bath

Noken — Brassware, sanitaryware and shower solutions, down to the spare parts.

The house

The bathroom firm of the Porcelanosa group

Noken designs and manufactures the group’s taps, sanitaryware and shower solutions. The catalogue runs from the basin mixer to the cut-to-size shower tray, by way of screens and accessories.

For us the value lies elsewhere than in the product: one manufacturer for the whole bathroom means one order and one lead time — and an after-sales service that goes through us rather than through a European web form.

The ranges

Five families, one maker

Noken makes everything the water touches in a bathroom, from the shower control to the pan. The five families below follow the order in which a project gets decided.

Taps and mixers

Basin, shower, bath and sink mixers, recessed or exposed. The collections differ in the handle and the finish: Menorca and its square spout, minimalist Mallorca with its knurled collar, Ibiza and its cut geometry, Round for the kitchen. The most handled fitting in the house, and so the one that wears fastest.

Shower solutions

Rain heads, columns, recessed controls, cut-to-size trays and channel drains. The Waterfall collection works the fall of the water itself; recessed controls free the wall; trays are cut on site, which matters when the opening is never quite to size. This is where the installation counts for more than the price of the fitting.

Units and basins

Wall-hung units, vanity tops, countertop basins and freestanding baths. Basins sit on the top, drop into it or are cut from it; units hang, which clears the floor and simplifies cleaning. The Rome collection pushes the basin towards being an object, in gold, copper and black.

Sanitaryware

Wall-hung and floor-standing WCs, bidets, support frames and cisterns. On the integrated-cistern models the cistern sits inside the pan itself: no frame to build, no duct to clad — an argument on a refurbishment where the wall cannot get any thicker. The i-Smart range adds washing and drying.

Why this brand here

Six points on bathrooms
by the sea

The water here is hard, the air is salt-laden, and the villa is shut up six months a year. Three conditions that wear a bathroom out faster than elsewhere.

  • Spare parts
The first criterion of allCartridges, seals, hoses and aerators. That is what decides whether a hotel bathroom lasts ten years or three.
  • Hard water
Ceramic cartridgeThe water here scales up fast. A ceramic cartridge can be replaced; a sealed mechanism condemns the tap.
  • Finishes
Chrome rather than exoticBlack and gold finishes are superb and fragile in salt air. We say so beforehand, not at the first pitting.
  • Closed-up villa
Draining and recommissioningSix months without use damages the seals. The recommissioning procedure is part of what we hand over.
  • Shower tray
Cut to size on siteA villa shower room is never on a round dimension. A cut-to-size tray avoids a manufacturing lead time.
  • Hotels
RepeatabilityForty identical rooms assume a reference that stays in the catalogue. We lock it in before the programme starts.

Overview

  • Cover of the Noken — More than Water catalogueNoken — More than WaterThe brand book rather than a product catalogue: what the house does, where it is present, how it works. Ordering and delivery

What really counts: the part

A hotelier does not choose a mixer on its shape. He chooses it on whether the cartridge will still be available in three years. This is how we handle that.

Wear parts
Order a set of cartridges and seals with the installation, above all in hotels
Concealed work
The concealed body ships ahead of the plumbing works, the trim comes later
Fragility
